about the artists

Jeff Galfer (left)

After a serious bout with depression, Jeff picked up a camera as a way to distract himself from himself.  With no formal education in photography, Jeff shot and shot until he understood how and why he was shooting.  Along the way, Jeff’s anxiety wilted away and transformed into a deep love of photography.

An actor and product photographer, Jeff holds a Master’s Degree in acting from the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco and a Bachelor of Science in Theatre and Political Theory from the University of Evansville in Indiana.  He has worked professionally on stage in New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Atlanta, & Los Angeles and can be seen in the shows Law & Order, Numbers, Z Rock, Guiding Light, as a recurring character on All My Children and now as part of the cast of ABC’s upcoming show The River.   He has also been in over thirty commercials (most recently Bud Light and Target) and currently is collaborating as an independent film producer on a number of upcoming feature films.  While he and his brother grew up in the Chicago suburb of Barrington, Jeff and his Canon 5D Mark II camera currently reside in Los Angeles. www.jeffgalferphotography.com

Miles Galfer (right)

Miles never really considered himself an artist.  In fine art classes, most of his clay projects turned out as ash trays (and not because they were intended to be).  The closest he ever came to actually being an artist was running lights and sounds for various school productions.  It wasn’t until his senior year of high school that he enrolled in a photography class where he merged his interest in taking photos with the technical skills of photography.  Even then, he never really considered his work art until it was selected for inclusion in a regional art show later that year.

Beginning in 2000, a few years after he received his BS in management information systems from Millikin University in southern Illinois, he took a two month European backpacking trip and fell in love with traveling.  Over the next 11 years, his travels led him to 55 countries on six continents logging over 800 hours of flight time while covering roughly 400,000 miles.  People watching was always a favorite pastime for Miles and he, along with his camera, have been able to capture the people, places and experiences of which people only dream.  Miles and his Nikon D90 currently reside in Chicago where he is an industry solution architect for Acxiom Corporation.  www.milesgalfer.com
